Tehran: Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei has called on the international community to put an arms embargo on Israel as part of measures to end the suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the Iranian spokesperson, in a post shared on X late on Saturday, referred to Israel’s starvation campaign against Gazans and the killing of Palestinians in the strip by weapons provided by Western countries including the United States and Germany. He highlighted the dire conditions faced by Palestinians, emphasizing the use of sophisticated lethal weapons in these attacks.
Baqaei also referred to Israeli forces’ fatal shootings of the Palestinians waiting to receive food at so-called aid distribution centers run by the regime. He noted that patients and the injured are being denied treatment as supplies of medicine run short in the Gaza Strip due to the Israeli siege in place since March.
The Iranian diplomat condemned the situation, stating, ‘Palestinians are wickedly starved to death at the same time that they are massacred by the most sophisticated lethal American and German made weapons.’ Baqaei further described the humanitarian crisis, saying, ‘Lines for food are deliberately turned into death traps, patients die without food and medicine and this is after two years of brutal terror campaign of bombardment and massive annihilation that has killed and maimed more than 200,000 persons, traumatized the whole Gazans and turned 90 percent of Gaza strip into an uninhabitable moonscape.’
Baqaei urged the international community to take definitive action, stating, ‘The international community must stop issuing empty statements and start taking action to relieve the innocent Gazans, implement an immediate arms embargo on the genocidal occupying regime and prosecute the criminals for their atrocities.’
