Iran Calls on UN Security Council to Compel Israel to Fulfill International Obligations

New York:Iran's Ambassador and Chargé d'Affaires to the United Nations, Gholamhossein Darzi, has urged the UN Security Council to take decisive action to address Israel's continued aggression and destabilizing activities in West Asia, which he claims pose a significant threat to both regional and international peace and security.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Darzi made these remarks during the UN Security Council's open debate on the Middle East, emphasizing the need for the Council to ensure that Israel complies fully with its international obligations. He highlighted several instances of Israel's alleged acts of aggression, including military activities in Gaza, the occupied West Bank, Lebanon, and Syria, as well as two wars against Iran conducted in conjunction with the United States over the past year.

Darzi called for an immediate and permanent end to Israeli aggression, the establishment of a permanent ceasefire, and the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from occupied territories. He also stressed the importance of enabling the Palestinian people to exercise their right to self-determination and establish a sovereign state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

Furthermore, the Iranian envoy emphasized the need for Israel to cease violations of Lebanese and Syrian sovereignty and to comply with relevant UN resolutions. He argued for accountability for violations of international law, noting that Israel, along with the United States, had committed grave international crimes against several nations, including Iran.

In conclusion, Darzi rejected allegations against Iran, attributing tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf to aggression by the United States and Israel. He reaffirmed Iran's commitment to safe navigation and called for the lifting of maritime blockades and respect for Iran's sovereign rights.
