Iran Condemns Israeli Attack on Sumud Flotilla and Arrest of Activists

Tehran: Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmaeil Baghaei, has issued a strong condemnation of the Israeli regime’s recent attack on the Sumud humanitarian flotilla in international waters. The incident, which involved the violent arrest of activists supporting the Palestinian cause, has been labeled by Baghaei as a terrorist act designed to maintain the ongoing famine imposed on Gaza.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Baghaei highlighted the participation of citizens from 47 countries in the Sumud humanitarian campaign. The initiative aims to challenge the harsh siege on Gaza and address the genocide faced by Palestinians. He emphasized the importance of global and United Nations support for the campaign and called for the accountability of the Zionist regime, urging the immediate release of those detained.

Baghaei also pointed to the transfer of the detained activists to the notorious Katziyot prison, associated with the occupation regime’s torture and inhumane treatment of Palestinian prisoners. He remarked that the arrest and subsequent treatment of pro-Palestinian activists, coupled with the derogatory conduct of the Zionist regime’s Minister of Internal Security, reflect the regime’s moral decline.

Furthermore, Baghaei expressed disapproval of the ongoing support from the United States and certain Western nations for the genocide of Palestinians. He asserted that all governments bear a legal and moral duty to halt the genocide and to prosecute those responsible for these crimes.
