Iran Condemns Israeli Strikes at UN Emergency Meeting

New York: The United Nations Security Council convened an emergency session to address the escalating tensions following Israeli military strikes on Iran. Iran’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, delivered a poignant speech condemning the actions as unlawful aggression.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Ambassador Iravani expressed deep concerns over the attacks, which he described as coordinated military assaults on Iranian cities, targeting nuclear facilities, military sites, and civilian infrastructure. The strikes resulted in the deaths of seventy-eight individuals, including senior military officials, and injuries to over 320 civilians.

In his address, Iravani criticized the inaction of international bodies, including the UN Security Council and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), for their failure to respond to Iran’s warnings about Israeli threats. He labeled the attacks as state terrorism and called for accountability, urging the international community to act against Israel’s repeated violations of international law and the UN Charter.

Ambassador Iravani further accused Israel of attempting to derail diplomatic efforts and negotiations with these premeditated assaults. He highlighted the complicity of the United States, alleging its support and arms transfer facilitated the attacks. The ambassador called for the disarmament of Israel’s weapons of mass destruction and emphasized Iran’s right to self-defense.

The session underscored the gravity of the situation, with Iran demanding decisive action from the Security Council to prevent further regional destabilization and hold Israel accountable for its actions.
