Tehran: The General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran has strongly condemned Israel’s recent airstrike on Qatar, describing it as a ‘savage and terrorist act’ conducted with full support and coordination from the United States.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the General Staff issued a statement on Wednesday denouncing the attack as a blatant violation of international norms and a threat to regional stability. The statement referred to Qatar as a ‘friendly and brotherly nation’ and emphasized that the attack had been conducted with the full backing of the United States.
The airstrike, carried out by Israeli warplanes on Tuesday, targeted a meeting of Hamas leaders in Doha who had convened to discuss a US proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza. Although Hamas confirmed none of its senior leaders were killed, it reported that five members were martyred in the attack.
The General Staff’s statement highlighted that the global community is aware of the Zionist regime’s crimes, which it claims are orchestrated and supported by the US government. It accused Washington of bearing full responsibility and disregarding global public opinion and its own allies.
The statement further warned that the expansion of Israeli military aggression poses a significant threat to the region and beyond. It called upon the Islamic world to stay vigilant and united against the perceived threats of American and Israeli militarism, urging nations to sever ties with Israel and halt its ‘mad war machine.’
Reaffirming Iran’s support for the Axis of Resistance, the statement pledged continued solidarity with oppressed Palestinians and resistance fighters across the region, emphasizing the importance of unity in the face of current challenges.
