Iran: Iran's ambassador and deputy permanent representative to the United Nations, Gholamhossein Darzi, has strongly condemned the latest US aggression against Larak Island in a letter to the UN secretary-general and Security Council president.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Darzi declared the attack a blatant violation of Iran's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as a breach of Article 2(4) of the UN Charter. The letter highlighted the actions of the US and Israeli regime as the primary threats to navigation freedom and maritime security in the Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz.

The US military attack on Larak Island on August 30 resulted in casualties among Iranian defenders and civilians, along with damage to public and private property. In response, Darzi emphasized Iran's strong condemnation of the assault, reiterating its violation of international law and Iran's territorial rights.

Darzi further mentioned that Iran's Armed Forces, invoking their right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter, conducted defensive and proportionate retaliatory actions against US military bases in Jordan, allegedly used for launching attacks against Iran.
