Tehran:Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson has condemned the actions of French police in dealing with protesters, urging respect for the fundamental rights and freedoms of students participating in demonstrations.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Esmaeil Baqaei highlighted what he sees as a double standard, pointing out that French officials criticize Iranian security forces for human rights violations while not tolerating even minor acts of violence against police during peaceful gatherings in France, resorting instead to severe suppression.
Baqaei referred to reports from French news agencies indicating that over 2,000 protesters have been arrested, with allegations of police brutality. He called for a thorough investigation into these claims of excessive force used by French security forces.
Additionally, Baqaei emphasized the importance of avoiding violence, property damage, and attacks on law enforcement officers by protesters.
