Iran Criticizes U.S. for Supporting Israeli Actions in Palestinian Territories

Tehran: Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has attributed Israeli actions in Gaza and the West Bank to the support it receives from the United States, which it claims has resulted in a lack of decisive measures from the United Nations and its Security Council.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the Ministry issued a statement on Thursday marking Nakba Day, the anniversary of the formation of what it referred to as 'the Zionist regime' on May 15, 1948. The day, described as a 'catastrophe' for Palestinians, was highlighted as a moment to call for international accountability for what Iran describes as ongoing 'genocide' and 'war crimes' by Israel.

The Nakba, meaning 'catastrophe' in Arabic, led to the displacement of over 750,000 Palestinians in 1948. The Ministry's statement noted that this event continues to significantly impact the Palestinian population today.

The Ministry claimed that Israel's ongoing actions in Gaza and the West Bank are fueled by the confidence that comes from perceived inaction by the U.N. and other international bodies. It directly linked this inaction to unwavering U.S. support for Israel.

Iran further alleged that the U.S. has been blocking efforts at international legal bodies, such as the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court, to hold Israel accountable for its actions in Palestinian territories.

The statement reiterated Iran's support for the Palestinian right to self-determination and resistance against occupation, urging the international community to take immediate action to end the violence, cease the occupation, and deliver justice to those responsible for the ongoing conflict.

Iran stressed the importance of establishing an independent Palestinian state and ensuring the right of return for refugees as the sole path to resolving the conflict that has persisted for decades.
