Iran Criticizes US Response to Conditions for Ending Conflict

Tehran:Major General Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, stated that the United States' response to Iran's seven conditions for ending the war and reopening the Strait of Hormuz is deemed insufficient by Tehran.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Rezaei expressed that the US response left ambiguities that needed resolution before any progress could be made. He highlighted that Iran had engaged in three rounds of negotiations with the US, each ending with the Americans leaving the table and attacking Iran. Rezaei indicated a shift in Iran’s diplomatic approach, criticizing former US President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw from a previous agreement with Iran.

Rezaei revealed that the US had sent proposals through Pakistan, Qatar, and Iraq, requesting Iran's own proposals. Iran responded with seven conditions, warning that non-compliance would result in the Strait of Hormuz remaining closed to the US and no further negotiations. He emphasized that while some conditions were accepted, ambiguities persisted.

The Iranian security chief described the US military actions as an 'oppressive and inhumane war' waged without proper assessment. He criticized the Trump administration for its reliance on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and its misguided expectations of a quick victory. Rezaei asserted that Iran managed its war efforts with precision and was prepared to reveal greater capabilities if hostilities resumed.

He noted that potential future conflicts could target valuable US economic assets in West Asia. Rezaei underscored Iran's strategic management of the Strait of Hormuz, asserting its significance beyond economic benefits and as a factor of regional security. He declared Iran's intention to maintain control over the Strait to ensure peace in the region.

Rezaei also accused the US of engaging in oil smuggling in Omani waters, alleging that President Trump was complicit with criminal elements. He criticized the impact of such actions on the shipping of oil, gas, and other products, and reiterated that the Iranian nation would continue its resistance until it secured its rights.
