Tehran: Iran has issued a strong condemnation of a recent Israeli airstrike targeting a school in Gaza, which was sheltering displaced Palestinians. The attack, which resulted in the deaths of over 50 individuals, has drawn severe criticism from Iran, asserting that the United States and other Western supporters of Israel must be held accountable for their role in the ongoing genocide in the region.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei denounced the increasing Israeli aggression in Gaza, particularly highlighting the recent attack on the Fahmi al-Jarjawi school and the killing of nine children from a Palestinian family in Khan Younis. Baqaei labeled these actions as war crimes and part of a broader colonial genocidal policy against Palestine.
Baqaei criticized the international community's lack of response, suggesting that this silence has emboldened Israel to escalate its actions against Palestinians. He urged that the global community bears a responsibility to intervene and protect the Palestinian population from further harm.
The spokesperson also expressed concern over actions by Zionist settlers in the occupied West Bank and al-Quds, including incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Baqaei called on nations and international organizations to fulfill their legal and moral obligations to halt Israeli crimes and prevent further normalization of violence in the region.
Baqaei further accused the U.S., Britain, and other European nations of enabling Israeli crimes through their support. He underscored their role in obstructing judicial processes at the International Criminal Court and International Court of Justice, attributing this obstruction to the continued impunity enjoyed by Israeli officials.
He concluded that these countries must be held accountable for their complicity in the ongoing violence in Gaza.
