Iran Demands Israeli Withdrawal Timetable from Lebanese Territories

Tehran: Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei has urged the immediate establishment of a timetable for the unconditional withdrawal of Israeli forces from the occupied territories of Lebanon. Baqaei emphasized Iran's commitment to principles based on the United Nations Charter and international law, highlighting the importance of safeguarding Lebanon's national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Baqaei stated that these principles are essential for the sustainability of any agreement aimed at ending the war and occupation imposed by the Zionist regime on Lebanon. He referenced the Islamabad memorandum of understanding (MoU), stressing that one of Iran's primary demands is to halt the Israeli regime's military operations in Lebanon and conclude the war against Iran.

Baqaei highlighted the necessity of implementing the first clause of the MoU, which calls for ending the Zionist regime's attacks against Lebanon and ensuring the withdrawal of occupying forces from all occupied Lebanese territories. This, he stated, is crucial for reaching a final and sustainable agreement to establish regional stability.

Recalling the explicit commitment of the United States under the first clause of the MoU, Baqaei reiterated Iran's call for the U.S. to take necessary measures to compel the Zionist regime to halt all aggression and military operations against all areas of Lebanon.
