Iran Demands U.N. Action Against U.S. and Israeli Aggression

Tehran: Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmaeil Baqaei, has labeled recent actions by the United States and Israel as acts of aggression, urging the United Nations to officially recognize and hold the aggressors accountable. Baqaei made these statements during a press briefing in Tehran, emphasizing the necessity for international bodies, particularly the U.N. Security Council, to take appropriate measures against the U.S. and Israel.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Baqaei criticized European countries, especially Germany and France, for their positions on Israel’s actions against Iran, describing Germany’s comments as historically shameful. He also addressed the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (I.A.E.A.) responsibilities, stressing that they must remain free from political influence.

The Iranian official condemned U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent comments about Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, highlighting the negative impact on Iranian sentiments and regional perceptions of U.S. policies. He also addressed Iran’s diplomatic relations with Britain, France, and Germany, noting that no date has been set for further negotiations.

Baqaei assured that Iran’s neighboring countries have committed to not allowing their airspace to be used for attacks against Iran. He also mentioned ongoing documentation of Israeli actions and correspondence with the U.N. regarding these events.

The spokesperson accused the U.S. of betraying diplomacy by complicity in Israel’s aggression during ongoing talks with Iran. He emphasized the binding nature of new Iranian laws suspending cooperation with the I.A.E.A. following the attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities and questioned the agency’s ability to ensure security for its inspectors.

Highlighting the readiness of Iran’s armed forces, Baqaei warned against the normalization of crimes by the Israeli regime and other nations. He criticized France for its role in the conflict, specifically regarding the interception of Iranian drones.

Baqaei also expressed concern over the detention of Iranian nationals by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, calling it a violation of human rights standards. He reiterated Iran’s commitment to its rights under the Non-Proliferation Treaty and welcomed peace efforts between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Iran remains firm in its stance against Western threats of triggering the ‘snapback mechanism’ in the 2015 nuclear deal, asserting that it will not yield to irrational demands. The country is also taking steps to ensure the security of foreign embassies, with some diplomats expected to return soon.
