Tehran: Iran has every right to respond to the recent move by the European troika to trigger the 'snapback' of sanctions, says a former Pakistani ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), describing the step as unreasonable and aligned with Washington's unlawful conduct.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Ali Sarwar Naqvi, executive director of the Center for International Strategic Studies (CISS), stated in an exclusive interview that the attempt by France, Germany, and Britain to restore UN sanctions reflects 'the same biased and unfair attitude of the Western bloc against Iran.'
He added that the European parties to the 2015 Iran nuclear deal are following in the footsteps of US President Donald Trump, who unilaterally withdrew from the agreement in 2018 during his first term. Their behavior is completely prejudiced and duplicitous, Naqvi noted.
The former ambassador argued that the European approach undermines prospects for the peaceful resolution of Iran's nuclear issue, saying they are attempting to impose their will on Tehran with negative intentions.
Naqvi emphasized that Iran's position against such 'reckless' measures is legitimate, stressing that Tehran is entitled to any reciprocal response to protect its national interests.
He concluded that while Iran upheld its commitments, the US and Europe repeatedly failed to honor theirs, instead choosing a 'negative and unreasonable path.'
