Tehran: Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has engaged in discussions with Amir Khan Muttaqi, the foreign minister of Afghanistan’s current ruling government, focusing on bilateral cooperation and the escalating tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, during a phone conversation with Muttaqi on Sunday, Araghchi expressed concern regarding the ongoing tensions between the two neighboring Muslim countries. He emphasized Iran’s readiness to provide assistance and consultation aimed at reducing tensions and promoting peace between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Araghchi highlighted the importance of interaction and collaboration to secure Iran’s water rights in discussions with Afghanistan’s foreign minister. Meanwhile, Muttaqi expressed gratitude towards Iran for its goodwill, offering an update on the current situation and the results of recent talks between Afghanistan and Pakistan. He affirmed Afghanistan’s dedication to maintaining the ceasefire and resolving issues through diplomacy and dialogue.
