Tehran: Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has conveyed condolences to Sri Lanka in the wake of devastating floods and landslides that have resulted in significant loss of life. In a message to his Sri Lankan counterpart, Vijitha Herath, Araghchi extended his and the Iranian nation’s sympathies regarding the fatalities and injuries suffered by Sri Lankan citizens.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the Iranian Foreign Minister expressed deep regret over the incident. He offered his sympathies to the government and people of Sri Lanka, wishing patience and peace for the bereaved families and hoping for a full recovery for the injured.
The calamity, caused by Cyclone Ditwah, has led to the deaths of 153 individuals across Sri Lanka, with another 191 people still reported as missing.
