Tehran: The Iranian Foreign Ministry has reiterated its stance on the nation’s legitimate right to harness peaceful nuclear energy, urging the international community to challenge what it perceives as double standards regarding nuclear disarmament. This statement was disseminated through the Ministry’s X account, coinciding with the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the Ministry emphasized Iran’s long-standing commitment to transparency and adherence to peaceful nuclear pursuits, as overseen by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Despite this compliance, Iran criticized nations with significant arsenals of weapons of mass destruction for failing to meet disarmament obligations while targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities for sabotage and attack.
The statement posed a rhetorical question to the global conscience, questioning the rationale behind countries with extensive nuclear arsenals, particularly the United States, stigmatizing and threatening Iran, which seeks only peaceful technology. Iran’s call to action urged the world to reject the duplicity and misleading standards that it claims are applied to its nuclear program.
