Iran Rejects Allegations of Interference in Yemen, Affirms Ansarallah’s Independence

Tehran: Iran has rejected US Secretary of State Marco Rubio's allegations of Iranian interference in Yemen, stressing that the Ansarallah movement is an independent Yemeni actor that makes its own decisions and does not operate as a proxy for any country.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baqaei stated in a post on X early Thursday that Rubio's claims do not hold ground. 'Marco Rubio's lies cannot replace facts. Ansarallah is an independent Yemeni actor that makes its own decisions; it takes orders from no one and acts as nobody's proxy,' Baqaei asserted.

Baqaei emphasized that the root causes of instability in the region are linked to US military interventions and hegemonic policies. 'The roots of instability in the region lie in U.S. military interventions and hegemonic policies,' he wrote. He further added that if the United States genuinely sought peace, it would cease its destabilizing interventions in the region.

Furthermore, the Iranian diplomat dismissed the notion that military pressure or external intervention could lead to peace in Yemen. 'Peace in Yemen cannot be imposed through bombs and external pressure,' Baqaei remarked. 'It begins with genuine negotiations based on the roadmap agreed by the parties.'
