Iran Reviews Export Regulations Amid Regional Challenges

Tehran:Iran is revisiting its regulations on exporters' obligations to tackle transportation and logistics disruptions, with plans underway to ease export barriers to Iraq, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, according to a senior Foreign Ministry official.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Hamid Ghanbari, the deputy foreign minister for economic diplomacy, announced these measures after the 12th meeting of the Economic Relations Coordination Headquarters. The meeting, held at the Foreign Ministry, focused on trade diplomacy and non-oil exports, with economic deputies from various executive bodies discussing exporters' challenges and potential solutions.

The discussions centered on finding practical solutions to export-related issues and coordinating efforts among government agencies and Iran's diplomatic missions abroad. Ghanbari highlighted that the US-Israeli conflict has introduced new challenges for exporters, necessitating changes to domestic mechanisms to address their difficulties and obligations.

Ghanbari noted that transportation disruptions have hindered some exporters from fulfilling their commitments, while others have faced challenges in importing raw materials due to logistical issues. Consequently, measures have been developed to re-evaluate existing procedures and regulations, with government approval already secured.

Proposals to address problems faced by exporters to neighboring countries, including Iraq, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, have also been raised. These proposals could be pursued through negotiations with foreign counterparts and referred to Iran's embassies and consulates for follow-up. Ghanbari expressed hope that these efforts would preserve and enhance Iran's export levels despite existing challenges.
