Tehran: The Iranian national team has performed exceptionally well at the 19th International Earth Science Olympiad (IESO) 2026 in Turin, Italy, securing a total of eight medals, including two silver and six bronze medals. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, in the IUGS Young Reporters short documentary section, Iranian student Mehraneh Vashghani Farahani achieved global recognition by winning the first-place title. This remarkable accomplishment highlights Iran's prowess in both academic and creative fields on the international stage. In the individual tests, Iranian students continued to showcase their talent. Shamim Mollagholizadeh and Javad Namjou each earned a silver medal, demonstrating their advanced knowledge and skills in earth science. Additionally, Ghazal Ghazizadeh contributed to the team's success by securing a bronze medal. Overall, Iranian representatives excelled in both individual and team categories, earning a total of eight medals. Their outstanding performance also included claim ing the world's top ranking in the short documentary category, further establishing Iran's position as a leading nation in earth science education and innovation.
