Geneva: Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva Ali Bahreini has criticized Western countries for abusing the mechanisms of the Human Rights Council, emphasizing that they seek to politicize human rights against Iran by ignoring fundamental human rights issues, including the Palestinian crisis.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Bahreini addressed the Human Rights Council's interactive dialogue session with the Special Rapporteur and the Fact-Finding Mission on Iran. He criticized the countries that have provided the basis for examining the human rights situation in Iran.

"This farce becomes even more offensive when we realize that the main actors are Germany and the U.K., countries that themselves have a dark history of human rights violations," Bahreini stated. He further added that over the past 19 months, as Israel's actions against the Palestinian people have intensified, these two countries have failed to act to stop these actions. Instead, they have extended financial, military, and political support to Israel, thereby becoming partners in its actions and must be held accountable before the conscience of humanity.
