Iran Submits Evidence of US-Israeli Attacks to International Maritime Organization

Tehran:Iran has presented documents and photographic evidence to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) alleging US and Israeli attacks on its ports, civilian vessels, and maritime infrastructure. The submission warns of significant risks to maritime safety in the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, and the Sea of Oman.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the evidence has been circulated among IMO member states for review under Agenda Item 11, "Protection of Vital Shipping Lanes," during the organization's 138th Council session in London from November 2 to 6. The report, titled "War Crimes Against Iran's Ports and Maritime Infrastructure," was prepared by Iran's Ports and Maritime Organization and details the impact of military aggression since February 28, 2026.

The report includes photographs showing damage to port facilities, maritime coordination centers, and rescue vessels. It highlights how the destruction of maritime traffic control towers and communication equipment threatens both Iran's infrastructure and international shipping safety. Concerns are raised about increased risks of vessel collisions and compromised emergency response capabilities, potentially endangering foreign seafarers. Additionally, environmental threats are noted, with potential pollution from damaged oil facilities and vessels extending beyond the attack areas.

The document references two periods of unprovoked aggression by the US and Israel against Iran, with the first lasting 12 days in June 2025, and a second, more extended conflict beginning on February 28, 2026, and concluding in early April after 40 days.
