Iran Summons EU Rotating President Over Allegations

Accra:Iran summoned Aidan Cronin, the Ambassador of Ireland, which currently holds the rotating presidency of the European Union, to its Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This action was taken in response to the inclusion of allegations against Iran in a statement from the recent European Union summit.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Alireza Yousefi, the Assistant to the Foreign Minister and Director-General for Western Europe, met with the ambassador. During the meeting, Yousefi rejected the allegations against Iran and criticized the European Union's policies concerning the situation in West Asia and the Strait of Hormuz.

Yousefi attributed the insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz to military actions by the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran, actions which, he claimed, were supported both overtly and covertly by certain European countries.
