Iran Summons Polish Envoy Over Baseless Allegations by Poland’s Foreign Minister

Tehran: The Polish envoy to Tehran has been summoned to Iran’s Foreign Ministry over unfounded claims made against the Islamic Republic. The head of Poland’s representative office in Tehran, Marcin Wilczek, was summoned by Mahmoud Heidari, the Assistant to the Iranian Foreign Minister and Director General of Mediterranean and Eastern European Affairs at Iran’s Foreign Ministry.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the diplomatic action was taken in reaction to some false allegations made by Poland’s foreign minister. The summons was a direct response to the Polish foreign minister’s cooperation with a US-Zionist group for an anti-Iran measure in the UK parliament. The Polish diplomat was also cited for making unfounded claims regarding the use of Iranian drones in the Russia-Ukraine war.

During the meeting, Iran’s strong protest over the matter was officially communicated. The Iranian side rejected the interventionist statements and baseless accusations made by Poland’s top diplomat. The Iranian side also expressed regret over the repetition of such claims. The Polish envoy emphasized his country’s interest in maintaining proper relations with the Islamic Republic, adding that he would promptly relay the matter to the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Earlier, on February 24, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the charg© d’affaires of Poland to Tehran in response to the anti-Iran statements and actions of the top Polish diplomat.
