According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the project focuses on renovating and repairing the western berths of Kharg Island, which is viewed as a critical step in boosting the country's oil exports. Abbas Asadrooz, head of the IOTC, emphasized during his recent visit to the island that the renovation would not only provide necessary protection but also improve the existing oil export infrastructure. Asadrooz further mentioned that investment in the project is anticipated to be secured soon. The completion of this project is expected to significantly increase the capacities of the western berths, thereby enhancing Iran's oil export potential.
