Tehran: Iran has called on the international community to take serious and decisive action to put an end to the Israeli genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Iran's Foreign Ministry issued a statement ahead of the United Nations General Assembly, expressing deep concern over the continuation of Israeli actions against the Palestinian people. The statement emphasized the international community's responsibility to intervene and halt what Iran describes as genocide.
The ministry condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his actions at Al-Aqsa Mosque and the violation of the sanctity of al-Buraq. It accused Israel of committing large-scale genocides in Gaza with support from the United States and other countries, while also engaging in systematic assassinations and torture of Palestinians in both Gaza and the West Bank.
Further, the ministry highlighted that an average of at least three Palestinian prisoners are killed under torture each month, asserting this as evidence of Israel's 'apartheid and colonial nature.' It criticized supporters of Israel for their indifference to these human rights violations and breaches of international humanitarian law.
The statement also addressed the issue of immunity allegedly granted to Israel by the United States, which includes measures like intimidation and sanctions against international court judges and human rights activists. The ministry urged that such immunity should not deter efforts to pursue justice and freedom for Palestine or to seek accountability for Israeli actions.
Lastly, Iran's Foreign Ministry argued that Israel's long-standing occupation, terrorism, and actions in the Palestinian territories and against regional countries have severely undermined the credibility of the United Nations and international law. It called for immediate measures to stop the genocide, prevent further occupation, deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, and hold those responsible accountable.
