New york: Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations Amir Saeed Iravani has declared Iran’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination. He has called for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, a just peace, and full Palestinian membership in the United Nations.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Iravani delivered a speech at the High-Level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution held in New York from July 28 to 30, 2025. He criticized the long-standing concessions granted to Israel and the inefficacy of policies that have legitimized Israel’s expansionist actions since 1947. Iravani highlighted the continued violation of Palestinian rights, the occupation of Syrian and Lebanese territories, and the severe impact on the Gaza Strip.

Iravani condemned the U.S. for its support of Israel in the U.N. Security Council and the unchecked flow of arms, which he claims have enabled Israel to continue its actions in Gaza and beyond. He also mentioned attacks on Iran’s infrastructure and civilians by Israel, with alleged U.S. involvement, between June 13 and 25, 2025.

He reiterated Iran’s call for a ceasefire in Gaza and warned against the conflict’s potential spillover. Iran supports a peaceful resolution through a democratic referendum among Palestinians, aiming for an independent Palestinian state. Iravani emphasized the need for unimpeded humanitarian access to Gaza and the reconstruction of the area while firmly rejecting forced displacement of Palestinians.

Iravani called for Palestine’s full U.N. membership and accountability for Israel’s actions, including targeted sanctions and suspension of its U.N. membership. He warned against normalizing relations with Israel, stressing that such actions undermine international law and justice.

The statement concluded with a call for a sustainable solution based on justice and equality, warning that any resolution rooted in injustice will not endure.
