Zurich: Iran has once again emphasized the key role of mediators in ensuring the full and thorough implementation of a memorandum of understanding (MoU), recently signed between Tehran and Washington. An Iranian delegation, in Switzerland for talks with the United States, told the IRNA correspondent on Sunday that Pakistan and Qatar, as the main mediators and countries that have placed their political credibility behind the Islamabad MoU, should use their capacities for the realization of the agreed clauses.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the delegation, led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, has entered the venue of the talks after initial separate diplomatic meetings with the representatives of intermediary states. No official details have yet been released regarding the commencement of the meeting or the content of the discussion. However, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei earlier said that the Iranian delegation is seeking to ensure the US follows through on its commitments, including a comprehensive ceasefire on all fronts.

Ghalibaf and his team, including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Deputy Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Ali Bagheri Kani, Deputy Foreign Minister of Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi, Central Bank of Iran Governor Abdolnaser Hemmati, and CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company, Hamid Bovard, arrived in Switzerland on Saturday evening.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, as well as Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani are also present in the Swiss resort of Brgenstock to mediate the Iran-US talks. The American delegation is being led by US Vice President JD Vance.

The talks followed the digital signing of the understanding reached between Iran and the United States by the presidents of the two countries on Thursday. The immediate and permanent termination of war on all fronts, including in Lebanon, was among several clauses of the MoU reached between Tehran and Washington.
