Tehran:Iran is advocating for stronger economic relationships with neighboring countries in the mining sector. The head of Iran Mining House emphasized the importance of enhancing domestic mineral production and processing to boost exports and solidify Iran's presence in regional markets.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Mohammad-Reza Bahraman highlighted these points at the inauguration of the 20th International Exhibition of Mine, Mineral Industries, Mining Machinery and Equipment, Road Construction and Related Industries (IRAN CONMINE 2026), which commenced in Tehran on Wednesday.
Bahraman described the exhibition as a significant national event for the mining industry. It offers a platform for exchanging expertise, fostering international cooperation, and identifying new investment opportunities. He noted that Iran's seventh development plan aims for a 13% growth in the mining sector, and the exhibition will focus on practical methods to achieve this goal while addressing development barriers.
The event has seen a 30% increase in participation compared to the previous edition, with representatives from 36 countries expected to attend. The four-day exhibition began with the involvement of 128 domestic and international companies, including participants from China, Japan, Russia, and India.
