New York: Iran asked the UN Security Council to recognise Israel and the US as the initiators of the recent attacks on the country.
According to TRTworld.com, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi expressed this demand in a letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, which was reported by the semi-official Tasnim news agency. The letter urged the Security Council to acknowledge the Israeli regime and the United States as the aggressors and hold them responsible for their actions, which includes demands for compensation and reparation.
The letter further asserted that the Security Council should take steps to hold the responsible parties accountable to prevent the recurrence of such acts, thereby maintaining international peace and security.
In response to the attacks, Tehran launched retaliatory missile and drone strikes on Israel, resulting in the deaths of at least 29 people and injuring more than 3,400, according to data from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
The conflict concluded with a US-brokered ceasefire that was implemented on June 24.
