Tehran: Technical negotiations between Iran and the United States under the Islamabad memorandum of understanding began in Switzerland on Monday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei says. Baqaei announced that Kazem Gharibabadi, deputy foreign minister for legal and international affairs, is leading the Iranian delegation in these discussions.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the negotiations are a continuation of high-level discussions held on Sunday between Iranian and US delegations in Burgenstock, with Pakistani and Qatari mediators participating. The mediators released a joint statement indicating that the technical working groups will concentrate on nuclear issues, sanctions, monitoring mechanisms, and dispute resolution. The talks are planned to proceed in Switzerland through the end of the week.

The discussions follow the recent signing of a memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States to conclude the US-Israeli-imposed war against the Islamic Republic. President Masoud Pezeshkian and his American counterpart, Donald Trump, finalized the agreement digitally and remotely on Wednesday.
