Caracas: Iran has issued a stern warning against the recent military maneuvers by the United States in the Caribbean, highlighting potential consequences for regional stability. Baqaei, a prominent Iranian official, emphasized the importance of respecting Venezuela’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity in the face of these developments.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Baqaei described the US’s threat of using force against Venezuela’s legitimate and elected government as a blatant violation of international law. He argued that these actions contravene the principles of the United Nations Charter, particularly the rights of nations to self-determination and the prohibition of the use of force as specified in Article 2(4).

Baqaei further cited reports from international bodies that have characterized US attacks on Venezuelan fishing boats as arbitrary and extrajudicial killings. He called for an end to the misuse of anti-drug trafficking initiatives as a pretext to infringe upon Venezuela’s sovereignty and territorial rights.

In his address, Baqaei also reminded the United Nations and its Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, of their obligation to uphold international peace and security. He urged them to counteract any promotion of aggressive unilateralism that threatens global stability.
