Vienna: The Iranian Embassy in Vienna, Austria, has issued a stern warning regarding the potential repercussions of provocative actions, including sanctions, by the European Union. The embassy expressed its concerns through a post on its X account, highlighting the adverse effects of such measures.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the embassy criticized the European Union's approach, describing it as a desperate attempt to cling to a discredited pattern of bullying, slander, and inhumane sanctions against Iran. The embassy emphasized that the EU's actions are seen as hypocritical and irrelevant in the current geopolitical landscape.
The embassy further remarked on the impact of the US-Israeli regimes' aggression towards Iran, stating that it has irrevocably altered the situation on the ground. It called for any future dialogue with Iran to be conducted with rationality, realism, and utmost respect.
The embassy warned that any repetition of offensive and provocative measures, including sanctions, would result in severe consequences for Europe. This statement underscores the growing tension between Iran and the European Union over ongoing geopolitical issues.
Earlier, during a press conference in Luxembourg, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas reiterated a selective interpretation of international law. She pointedly ignored what Iran perceives as the aggressions of the United States and the Israeli regime, which are viewed as the root causes of the current situation in the Strait of Hormuz. Kallas restated Europe's claims and demands concerning the future of this critical international waterway.
Kallas criticized the inconsistent status of the Strait of Hormuz, labeling daily U-turns regarding its accessibility as reckless. She emphasized the necessity for free transit through the Strait and announced that the EU had reached a political agreement to expand its sanctions regime to include those responsible for breaches of freedom of navigation.
