Tehran:Iran's Armed Forces Chief of Staff Major General Ali Abdollahi has articulated five essential principles aimed at achieving lasting peace and security in the West Asia region. His message, which aligns with the observance of November 4, the National Day of the Fight against Global Arrogance, underscores the need for conflict resolution, sanctions relief, and the establishment of new regional security frameworks.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Abdollahi referenced historical events such as Imam Khomeini's 1964 exile, the student killings in 1978, and the 1979 US embassy takeover as significant markers of US hostility. He further highlighted the continuation of such hostilities through support for Saddam Hussein during the Iran-Iraq war, backing anti-Iran groups, the assassination of nuclear scientists, and the imposition of sanctions. The US's involvement in the deaths of Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani and participation in conflicts alongside Israel in 2025 and 2026 was also noted.
Abdollahi expressed that these conflicts have resulted in the martyrdom of Iran's leaders, military personnel, and civilians, including children. He emphasized Iran's shift from defense and crisis management to a role in shaping regional order, clarifying that military power is a means to an end, not the end itself, and that Iran does not pursue warfare.
The five principles proposed by Abdollahi include the cessation of hostilities, particularly in Lebanon and Gaza; lifting sanctions and releasing frozen assets; providing compensation for wars imposed on Iran; recognizing Iran's sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz with a replacement of the US security presence by a Hormuz mechanism; and securing guarantees against future aggression through regional security arrangements. Abdollahi reiterated the readiness of Iran's Armed Forces to respond swiftly to any threats.
