Isfahan: Khoresht-e Maast, a stew made from yogurt and a traditional Iranian dish, has been patented by the World Intellectual Property Organization, which is a subsidiary of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Mojgan Izadi, an official in the Chamber of Commerce in Isfahan, announced that the dish had been registered on WIPO's patent list. She highlighted the key ingredients of Khoresht-e Maast as beef, yogurt, sugar, and saffron, which together create the unique flavor profile of this traditional stew. Izadi emphasized the importance of food as an integral part of the intangible heritage of any region, noting that securing patents for traditional dishes like Khoresht-e Maast can significantly enhance tourism prospects in those regions. The recognition by a global entity such as WIPO not only preserves cultural heritage but also promotes it on an international stage.
