Tehran: The rotor of the Iran-made MGT-75 gas turbine, which belongs to the F-class type, has successfully passed the overspeed test. The MGT-75 gas turbine rotor underwent balancing at both low and high speeds to achieve this milestone.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the MGT-75 gas turbine has a power capacity of approximately 220 MW and is part of Iranian-made F-class gas turbines known for their higher efficiency. These turbines are primarily used for power generation in thermal plants. This achievement marks the first time such turbines are being manufactured indigenously by the giant Iranian industrial group MAPNA.
On the global stage, F-class gas turbines are typically produced by major companies such as the US-based multinational General Electric and Germany’s Siemens company. The successful testing of the MGT-75 highlights Iran’s capabilities in developing advanced power generation technology.
