Iranian Filmmaker Highlights Minab School Tragedy at Busan Film Festival

Minab:Busan Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi has drawn attention to the human cost of the US-Israeli conflict with Iran during the 31st Busan International Film Festival. He highlighted the massacre of schoolchildren in Minab and the damage or destruction of approximately 150,000 homes across Iran.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Majidi, known for films such as Children of Heaven, used the platform to criticize US attacks on Iran, emphasizing their human and material consequences. He stated that around 150,000 homes in Iran had been affected.

The deaths of students in the Minab school attack were a focal point of Majidi's address. He aimed to draw attention to civilian casualties rather than military strategies and political disputes. By discussing the event, he highlighted the impact of the war on ordinary people, particularly children, noting that the school symbolized the human cost civilians bear during military conflicts.

Majidi's speech attracted significant international media attention, refocusing the global spotlight on the humanitarian consequences of the conflict against Iran and the devastation it has caused to civilian life.

On February 28, during the initial day of the US-Israeli aggression against Iran, the Shajareh Tayyebeh elementary school in Minab was struck by a US missile. The attack resulted in the deaths of at least 168 individuals, including 157 schoolchildren, sports players, school board members, teachers, and parents.
