Tehran: Ten fishermen detained in the United Arab Emirates have been released and have entered the country via Tehran's Imam Khomeini International Airport, where they were welcomed by their families, an official said. Speaking to IRNA on Friday evening from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs office in Hormozgan, Mohammad Soleimani said the UAE coast guard arrested these fishermen, who reside in Bandar Lengeh, in the Persian Gulf in late July 2026.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the families of these fishermen had reported that they had gone missing and had not returned home. Soleimani mentioned that these fishermen were initially scheduled to return on September 7, but their return was canceled at that time. The uncertainty surrounding their return caused distress among their families.

At the same time as the fishermen's scheduled return, the families of three other Bandar Lengeh fishermen also reported them missing. Soleimani noted that there is still no information about the fate of these three other fishermen, leaving their families in a state of apprehension.
