Tehran: Iranian girls won 868 medals in international sports events during the last Iranian calendar year, which ended on March 20, as announced by Minister of Sports and Youth Ahmad Donyamali.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the minister made these remarks on Tuesday during an open session of Parliament. The session was held to brief lawmakers on achievements in Iran’s sports sector and to assess the progress of the Fifth National Seven-Year Development Plan.

Donyamali highlighted that over the past year, more than 307 delegations of women and girls were sent to prestigious international events. Out of the 868 medals won, 340 were gold, showcasing the commitment of Iranian women to excel in sports.

He further noted that Iran has secured 1,160 international seats and has dispatched nearly 1,900 referees to international events, indicating the country’s active participation on the global stage.

The Ministry of Sports and Youth aims to achieve further success by leveraging existing resources and maintaining continued efforts, as stated by the minister.
