Beirut: An Iranian government delegation that arrived in Beirut to attend the funeral ceremony for resistance leaders Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and Sayyed Hashem Safieddine has met with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun. The delegation, led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, engaged in discussions with Aoun on Sunday, focusing on regional developments.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the meeting included Ebrahim Azizi, head of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian Parliament, Abolfazl Amouei, the Parliament Speaker's special assistant for international affairs, and lawmaker Seyed Mahmoud Nabavian. These representatives arrived in Lebanon on Sunday morning to participate in the funeral for Nasrallah, Hezbollah's long-serving leader, and his successor, Safieddine, who were both assassinated by the Israeli regime late last year.
Before departing for Lebanon, Qalibaf addressed reporters, highlighting the significance of the funeral as a pivotal moment for the Resistance Front, the Islamic world, and the Lebanese people. Upon his arrival in Beirut, Qalibaf honored Nasrallah, acknowledging him as a source of pride and a symbol of resistance against Israel's actions in Gaza.
Qalibaf further emphasized that, despite the loss of its resistance leaders, Lebanon has successfully restored security to its territory following prolonged Israeli aggression, which remains a point of national pride.
