Iranian Minister Criticizes Global Silence on Attacks Against Civilians

Tehran:Minister of Roads and Urban Development Farzaneh Sadegh has condemned attacks on educational and residential areas during armed conflicts, labeling them as violations of fundamental human rights and threats to morality and humanity.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Sadegh spoke at a World Habitat Day ceremony, criticizing international bodies for their silence on military threats to vital public infrastructure, specifically mentioning the actions of the United States and Israel in the West Asia region.

She highlighted how international rhetoric on human settlements has evolved in response to crises like climate change and natural disasters. However, Sadegh stressed that the world is also facing a profound moral crisis that requires a collective response.

Expressing concern over the use of weapons of mass destruction and assaults on national existence, Sadegh called for effective international action. She emphasized the importance of maintaining infrastructure such as road and rail networks, which are critical for urban resilience and access to public services.

Sadegh cited US-Israeli violations of fundamental rights like access to education, sports, and safe shelter, referencing bombings of the Minab school and Lamerd sports facilities in Iran and the region. She urged the international community to honestly address the situation in Iran and Gaza, highlighting the killings of students, athletes, and civilians as evidence of a disregard for fundamental human principles.
