Iranian MP Emphasizes Rule of Law at BRICS Forum

Tehran:The head of Iran's parliamentary delegation to the 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum has emphasized that the global order should be based on the rule of law, asserting that no nation should consider itself above the law.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Ahmad Naderi, in his address to the forum, highlighted that war, unilateral sanctions, economic pressure, and threats to critical infrastructure have proven that resilience is a crucial aspect of national sovereignty and political independence. Naderi pointed out that Iran has firsthand experience with these challenges, citing military attacks by the US and the Zionist regime as serious violations of regional and international peace and security, which contradict the UN Charter's principles.

Naderi further stated, "We do not seek war, but we will not mistake peace for surrender, nor will we trade our inalienable rights for empty promises." He asserted that engagement with Iran requires respect, adherence to commitments, and the abandonment of threats and coercion. He emphasized that sustainable resilience requires a comprehensive understanding of security considerations, peace and stability requirements, and regional and international developments.

Discussing the Strait of Hormuz, Naderi indicated that Iran's approach is grounded in the security and legitimate interests of regional countries, advocating for security through dialogue, confidence-building, and cooperation among coastal states, rather than through the destabilizing presence of external powers.
