Iranian Official Criticizes Term ‘Iran Conflict’ for War Narrative Distortion

Tehran:Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmail Baqaei, has criticized the use of the term 'Iran conflict' in describing the US-Israeli-imposed war against Iran, asserting that it obscures the responsibility for initiating the war and distorts historical facts.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Baqaei expressed his concerns on a post on X, emphasizing that labeling the aggression by the US and Israel as the 'Iran conflict' effectively removes accountability from those responsible for starting the war and unfairly shifts the burden of responsibility onto Iran, the targeted country.

Baqaei argued that such terminology does not embody neutrality but rather represents a distortion masquerading as impartiality. He urged for the actions to be accurately depicted as aggression and for those responsible to be clearly identified. Furthermore, Baqaei stressed that diplomatic language should not be employed to obscure the truth or evade accountability, as the terms used to describe conflicts can shape public perception and potentially serve the interests of those who initiated the aggression.

In his remarks, Baqaei also highlighted the importance of upholding fundamental principles in the pursuit of peace, cautioning against appeasing aggressors, legitimizing aggression, condemning victims, or compromising core values. His comments were made in response to the usage of the term 'Iran conflict' in statements by various parties, including a joint declaration by Qatari and French officials.
