Accra:Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has hailed Iran's victory at the U23 World Wrestling Championships in the United States as a testament to the nation's strength and determination.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Ghalibaf conveyed in a message on Monday that the triumph of the freestyle wrestling team, marked by the raising of Iran's flag, has once again highlighted the country's presence on the global stage. He noted that Iran's consistent success is rooted in determination, faith, knowledge, and hard work.

The Iranian athletes' achievement on US soil was particularly significant given the political tensions, with Ghalibaf emphasizing that American officials could not diminish the prominence of the Iranian homeland. He commended the wrestlers for compelling their competitors to respect Iran's name and flag.

Ghalibaf remarked that the athletes' victory was achieved through knowledge and decisive action, culminating in the playing of Iran's national anthem in the US. He described the success as not just a sporting victory, but an expression of national strength, showcasing Iran's ability to earn global respect across various fields.

He also extended congratulations to the wrestlers, their families, and the Iranian people, while expressing gratitude to the athletes, coaches, technical staff, wrestling federation management, and everyone involved in the team's preparation.

Iran clinched the U23 freestyle world title by securing nine medals across ten weight categories four gold, one silver, and four bronze, finishing with 180 points to win the championship decisively.
