Iranian, Russian, and Azerbaijani Foreign Ministers Meet Ahead of CIS Summit

Abu Dhabi:Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi of Iran, Sergey Lavrov of Russia, and Jeyhun Bayramov of Azerbaijan held brief talks prior to the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) summit.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the meeting took place on the sidelines of the summit, with Russian media sharing a photo and post from Araghchi's Telegram channel depicting the three diplomats in discussion.

The CIS summit began earlier today with a group photo of participating leaders, including presidents from Iran, Russia, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and the prime minister of Armenia.

The summit's agenda consists of 15 items, focusing on a joint statement reviewing the CIS's achievements over the past 35 years and considering future prospects. Key discussion points include cooperation against cybercrime, enhancing the CIS's international image, social development, improving the quality of life, and strengthening transport connectivity.
