Iranian Security Official Confirms No Response to US Vice President’s Letter on Nuclear Doctrine

Tehran:Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Major General Mohsen Rezaei, has confirmed that he has not yet responded to a letter from US Vice President JD Vance. Rezaei stated that there is no change in the nuclear doctrine of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Rezaei, in a special interview on Saturday night, mentioned that he has received and thoroughly reviewed the letter from Vice President Vance but has not issued a formal response. He emphasized that no new official or governmental decisions have been made regarding Iran's nuclear doctrine.

Rezaei noted that while no decision has been finalized, an internal debate is ongoing. He discussed whether Iran should maintain its current nuclear doctrine if another conflict arises, highlighting a shift in the tone from Washington as a positive sign. He described this change as indicative of the Iranian nation's consolidated victory and power.

The comments come amid reports of US efforts to prevent renewed military conflict. Rezaei did not disclose the letter's full contents and confirmed that no reply has been sent. He pointed to public sentiment in Iran, explaining that the nation has legitimate demands and has consistently cooperated with the International Atomic Energy Agency despite adversaries targeting Iranian nuclear facilities.

Rezaei reiterated that Iran remains committed to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and will assert its rights in any nuclear discussions. He stated that Iran awaits a response from the United States and remains firm in pursuing the rights of its people.
