Oslo:Iran's ambassador to Norway emphasized that Tehran is not seeking war, but is fully prepared to defend itself against any new military aggression. He stated that those who initiate war must bear the consequences.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Alireza Jahangir made these remarks during an interview with the Norwegian television network NRK, in response to threats from former U.S. President Trump to resume military strikes against Iran.
The ambassador highlighted that the Islamic Republic has the right to self-defense against any aggression, particularly in light of U.S. threats to target Iran's civilian infrastructure. Jahangiri noted that if the U.S. uses neighboring countries' territories to attack Iran's civilian facilities, Iran would certainly respond. He asserted that employing third countries in such aggression amounts to participation, granting the targeted nation the right to retaliate.
Jahangiri also discussed potential resolutions to the conflict, advocating for a comprehensive approach to ending hostilities, rather than just a temporary ceasefire. He suggested that the first step should be to stop the war and ensure guarantees are in place to prevent its recurrence.
