Tehran: Iran's Foreign Ministry, under the administration of President Masoud Pezeshkian, has kept the country's diplomatic front active under exceptionally difficult conditions, while building an effective negotiation network and helping shape the Islamabad memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington, according to former Central Bank of Iran Governor Mohammad-Hossein Adeli.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, in an exclusive Persian-language article published on Sunday, which marked the last day of the National Government Week, Adeli stated that the Foreign Ministry had played a significant role alongside the military front in protecting Iran's national interests and security during a period marked by intense military and political tensions.

He highlighted the challenges of maintaining diplomacy during wartime, as negotiations faced pressure at home and abroad. Despite these challenges, Iran's diplomatic apparatus continued consultations, meetings, and negotiations with various parties before, during, and after recent military confrontations.

Adeli emphasized the establishment of an active negotiation network through Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi's contacts with counterparts in countries including Oman, Pakistan, Turkey, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and other regional states, as well as Iran's allies and members of the Axis of Resistance.

He noted that maintaining these channels of communication had helped preserve opportunities for dialogue and could contribute to a path toward peace and Iran's strategic objectives.

Adeli further described the Islamabad memorandum as a significant diplomatic achievement, arguing that its provisions reflected Iran's position in negotiations with its adversaries. He said the document could serve as a basis for future negotiations and praised the Foreign Ministry for helping create the conditions that led to the agreement.

Overall, Adeli affirmed that Iran's diplomacy had remained active despite severe political and military pressures.
