Tehran: Shina Ansari, Iran’s Vice President and Head of the Department of Environment, has traveled to Brazil to participate in the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference, known as COP30.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the Iranian official departed on Wednesday to attend the conference taking place in the city of Bel©m from November 10 to 21. UN Climate Change Conferences (or COPs) occur annually and serve as the world’s only multilateral decision-making forum on climate change, bringing together almost every country globally.
The events focus on topics related to two main themes: adaptation to climate change and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Climate finance for developing countries, renewable energy technologies, and low-carbon solutions are among other topics discussed at the conferences.
The presence of Iran’s delegation is of particular importance, as it can also create opportunities for bilateral and multilateral cooperation with other countries on technology transfer and climate change combat.
