Beirut: Iran's Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf is set to travel to Lebanon on Sunday to attend the funeral of Hezbollah leaders Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and Sayyed Hashem Safieddine, as announced by a senior lawmaker.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Alireza Salimi, a member of Parliament's presiding board, stated on Saturday that Qalibaf, along with several other Iranian officials and lawmakers, will participate in the funeral procession. The ceremonies for Nasrallah, the former secretary-general of Hezbollah, and Safieddine, who served as his deputy and was subsequently named the new secretary general, will be held in southern Lebanon.
Nasrallah was assassinated in an Israeli airstrike on September 27 of the previous year in Dahieh, located south of Beirut. He led Hezbollah for 32 years and was 64 years old at the time of his martyrdom. Saieddine was also a target in a subsequent Israeli airstrike in Dahieh on October 3, with his death being confirmed later in the month.
