Tehran: The Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission has given the green light to the general outlines of a draft bill focused on the management of the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Hassan Qashqavi, the commission spokesperson, announced on Sunday that the bill, titled 'Strategic Action for Ensuring Security and Sustainable Development of the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf,' received approval after a detailed review during a meeting. The commission members considered various oral and written opinions from relevant agencies and institutions, ultimately approving the plan without any opposing votes.

The proposed legislation mandates the Iranian government, alongside the Armed Forces, to ensure maritime security, navigational safety, and environmental protection in the Persian Gulf. Additionally, the preliminary text of the bill suggests a comprehensive ban on vessels owned or flagged by the United States, the Israeli regime, or other hostile states or entities associated with them.
